Blog Journal #5 EME2040

     I have been using twitter for about 5 years now and I have interacted with many of people/sources. These interactions include friends and media sources such as CNN and ABC news. I believe that this is beneficial because it is important to keep up with what is happening in the world. It is also important to express your thoughts and views on some of these topics to make your voice heard. I think that twitter can be helpful in my future career because it connects us to so many sources and shows us different views on things. Gaining knowledge of different views and using different sources is crucial to strengthening your learning. 

    The digital divide is a very real problem in the United States when it comes to students fairness in learning. The way that it affects students learning in schools is by the inequitable access to electronic devices and reliable, high-speed internet connections. This has a negative impact on opportunity, achievement and equity gaps in education for kids who do not have the access to these things. Some of the causes of the digital divide include low income, low literacy levels, and lack of access to the technology. I think the most important thing to do as a teacher is making sure the students have an equal chance at success in the classroom, regardless of their access to technology. The way I can do this is by assigning homework/assignments that will not favor those who have access to more technology.  

    Two academic software tools that I would like to implement in my future classroom are Microsoft word and google docs. Microsoft Word is a word processing program for the creation of both simple and in depth documents. I want to implement this into my classroom because of how much it is used in college and the real world. Almost all of my assignments and papers are done using Microsoft word, so I think that it is important for students to learn about it before they are thrown into using it. Google Docs is used to create and edit text documents in your web browser. It also allows multiple people to work at the same time, you can see people's changes as they happen and every change is saved automatically. I want to use this in my future classroom because of the same reason as Microsoft word.
