Hello class, my name is Kyle Starck and I am currently a junior here at Florida State University. I was born in McHenry Illinois and moved down to Florida when I was about six years old because my grandma was diagnosed with cancer and she lived in Florida. Moving on from the sad stuff, some of the hobbies I like to do include working out, going out with my friends, playing sports, and playing video games. I am the middle child of three with one older brother and one younger brother, Jake and Cole. My parents are very active in my life so I am thankful for that, but most of my family still lives in McHenry so it is hard to see them as often as I would like. Overall I am a pretty normal person who likes to help people and make people laugh.

Most of my experiences involving technology in an education setting have come from college. I use technology almost everyday for my education, I can't lie coming from little use of technology in the educational setting of high school made it a little harder to transition than usual. Every course I have taken in college has involved the use of technology so I am starting to get more adapted to it as the years go by. In high school we did not use laptops until we were seniors and that was on rare occasions such as kahoot or studying. Overall I don't have any unique experiences besides the fact that I had to transition from little use of technology in high school to heavy use in college.

Taking a look at my personal learning networks's, I have a few that I use often that help me succeed in my educational journey. These being canvas, Microsoft word, snapchat, twitter, and quizlet. I use canvas to access all of my courses for college, so this is the biggest and most important one of them all. I use Microsoft word to complete a good majority of my assignments for the college courses. I use snapchat as a source of communication, this can include asking students in my class for notes I may have missed or even just asking general questions on something I may not be familiar with. Twitter is used as more of a support network to keep me up with what is happening in the world. This can help me gain knowledge and have a better understanding on some topics. Finally quizlet, I use quizlet to help me prepare for exams or quizzes in a more efficient manner. All of these personal learning networks help aid me in my educational experiences and also help give me a new or better perspective on some topics.

  1. Hi Kyle, thank you for sharing a bit about your life, including some of the harder parts. I had lots of technology use in high school and if I did not have that, I know that transition would be very hard, I think it is great that you are able to get the hang of it with every class you take. For having little technology experience until college, you seem to use lots of helpful websites and sources, I think this only shows how adaptable to technology digital natives can be. Thank you so much for sharing your own experiences.
